Gonna have the change the N in NRA to Russian

I can’t say I’m all that surprised the NRA was this compromised, what with all the truly bizarre things it’s done the past decade or so. But this stupid? I’m surprised by that.

Putin has never made it a secret that he wants to undermine the west, up to and including undermining the right to bare arms. So you would’ve thought….but no….

Disjunction Junction

Disjunctive presidents wake up after the midterms to discover they desperately need the establishment for their survival, only to discover that they’ve spent so much time pissing the establishment off with their style of rhetoric and governance that the establishment no longer wants or needs to protect them.

The LOCK HER UP guy is now insisting that he shouldn’t be locked up. I see.

Flynn’s lawyers made their argument tonight. He was just the NSA, you see, how could he possibly know what the law was? How could he know you have to tell the truth to the FBI?!? He’s never claimed to be an expert in the law, and he’s never insisted that people in power should be held to high legal standards. Nope. Not him!

Election fraud isn’t voter fraud. This isn’t even hard.

Individual fraud happens, but at levels so low it essentially never alters outcomes. Systemic election fraud is still rare, but when it happens it tilts elections precisely because it’s systemic.

Secure the system by securing it’s infrastructure. It wasn’t forcing people to show drivers licenses that caught this; it was improvements made to the systems of collecting and recording votes that did.

That the people most interested in stopping fraud by voters would use this instance of fraud by officials to push their unrelated solutions tells you everything you need to know about the sincerity of their arguments. Don’t fall for it.

Fraud by voters isn’t fraud by campaigns and vice versa. Not hard.

They Didn’t Expect to Win

The two purchases may have looked coincidental; Red Eagle and AMAG appear at first glance to be separate firms. But each is closely connected to a major conservative media-consulting firm called National Media Research, Planning and Placement. In fact, the three outfits are so intertwined that both the NRA’s and the Trump campaign’s ad buys were authorized by the same person: National Media’s chief financial officer, Jon Ferrell.

“This is very strong evidence, if not proof, of illegal coordination,” said Larry Noble, a former general counsel for the Federal Election Commission. “This is the heat of the general election, and the same person is acting as an agent for the NRA and the Trump campaign.”

The goal was to damage Hillary as badly as possible while grifting tens of millions off the campaign. Only then they won, and now it’s all just sitting there in plain view.

Beto Still Isn’t Ready

Stuff like this is why I hope he doesn’t run yet. Al Sharpton? Seriously? What kind of horribly bad judgement do you have to have to think you need to do this? I get it, sort of, if he’s already part of your extended network from a lifetime of political work. But if you’re this new? Al Sharpton?

You don’t need to do this. And if you think you do, then you’re not ready for the big time. Sharpton has no constituency, nor will he provide useful information. It’s a pointless act of self-harm to meet with him.

U.S. Delays Rusal Sanctions as Talks With Deripaska Continue

Deripaska, so for those playing along at home, is directly connected to the Trump campaign via one of the Russians Cohen now admits he was working with during the campaign. So no, this isn’t a coincidence. This is, in fact, precisely the sort of payoff Deripaska was hoping he might get from his people’s work with Cohen.
